Mumbai, 19^th December, 2014: Aptech Aviation and Hospitality organized the first ever national event, ‘Panorama’ on the 16^th, 17^th and 18^th of December, exclusively for their students with the aim to create numerous opportunities for them using seminars, industry interactions, workshops, peer connect and much more. The event took place at The Orchid Ecotel, Mumbai.

 

The event was inaugurated on the 16^th of December, 2014, by Mr. Ninad Karpe, CEO and MD, Aptech Ltd, Mr. Ravi Menon, Executive Director, Airworks, and Mr. Raj Sivakumar, Chief Commercial Officer, Jet Airways.

Panorama proved to be a fun-with-learning event that put students in touch with top industry people, exposed them to latest trends in the aviation, hospitality & tourism sectors and took them on an actual flight to prepare them for a high-flying career in this field. Practical grooming sessions were conducted by elite brand experts.

Numerous training sessions were held for the benefit of the students giving them insights into the functioning of the industry. Industry professionals from prominent companies of the aviation and hospitality industry such as Go Air, Oman Air, ITC Maratha, The Oberoi, Centrum etc communicated with the students and presented industry insider’s perception to the keen students.

An awards night was held on the 17^th of December, 2014 to felicitate industry professionals who have dedicated their careers for the betterment of the aviation, tourism and hospitality industries of our country. Aptech Aviation and Hospitality sector also took the opportunity to celebrate their alumni, who are doing exceptionally well in their careers and are role models to the current batches.

  TIE-UP BETWEEN MICA AND SBI FOR PGDM-C APPLICATIONS

 

Ahmedabad, December 18, 2014

 

MICA, India’s premiere management institute in Strategic Marketing and Communication, announced a tie-up with the State Bank of India (SBI), due to which aspirants can now apply for MICA’s PGDM-C from any corner of India, as long as they can access an SBI branch. The MICA PGDM-C application fee can also be paid online via a Master or a Visa card. Alternatively, payments can also be made via demand draft from any bank in favour of MICA (payable at Ahmedabad) or counter payment via CAT coaching centres listed on the application portal.

 

MICA PGDM-C aspirants can select the option of ‘Payment through SBI’ online and take a print out of the SBI bank Challan (Payment Advice Form/Pay-in-slip). Made up of three parts, once the challan is duly filled up and submitted along with the application fee at an SBI branch, the bank will return the other two parts of the stamped challan, of which one is meant for you and the other is for the institute. The latter needs to be signed by you and sent to the collection centre address of MICA’s Admissions Office, as mentioned on its website.

Having announced the admissions open for its 2015-17 PGDM-C batch in August this year, MICA will be considering online applications till January 18, 2015. Further details can be accessed on the institute’s website www.mica.ac.in.

Executive PG Program at IIM Kozhikode-Kochi Campus get International Accreditation from AMBA

Kozhikode, 18 December, 2014: The Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode (IIMK) receives an international accreditation from the Association of MBAs (AMBA) for its Executive PG Program conducted at its satellite campus in Kochi.

AMBA accreditation represents the highest standard of achievement in postgraduate business education and is earned only by the best programmes.  The AMBA network currently includes 33 accredited institutes in Asia. AMBA has accredited over 200 business schools located in more than 70 countries.

New Delhi, December 8, 2014:  Jamia Hamdard University has appointed Dr. Habil Khorakiwala as its new Chancellor. Dr. Habil Khorakiwala will occupy the esteemed position for a period of 5 years beginning December 2014. Dr. Habil Khorakiwala is the Chairman of Wockhardt Group, India’s leading healthcare conglomerate with presence across Pharmaceuticals, Biotechnology, and Super Speciality Hospitals.

Now a deemed University, the history of Jamia Hamdard goes way back with the establishment of a small Unani clinic in the year 1906 by Hakeem Hafiz Abdul Majeed, one of the well-known practitioners of Unani System of Medicine of his time. Dr. Habil Khorakiwala, an alumnus of Purdue University and Harvard Business School, he was honoured and bestowed by the Purdue University, their prestigious title of ‘Distinguished Alumnus’ for significant contribution to the Profession of Pharmacy.  In March 2010 Purdue University further honoured him with their highest award they offer, the Honorary Doctorate for distinguished service to the University and great achievements in career and life.  He is the only non-American in the 125 year history of the University to be awarded Honorary Doctorate by the Pharmacy School. He is also a recipient of the prestigious Shiromani Vikas Award for his ‘Outstanding and Inspiring Contribution towards National Development’ received at the hands of Mother Teresa (1992). He has also served as the President of FICCI (Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry) and IPA (Indian Pharmaceutical Alliance), and has sat on the board of several prestigious advisory boards for the Government of India.

The University conducted an awareness campaign to spread the word amongst medical fraternity dealing directly with patients and their biggest threat worldwide on unsafe medical care.    Dr. S.D Gupta, President of IIHMR University said, “Patient Safety is of prime importance due to an increasing number of patient safety issues. Globally, more than 23 million years of healthy lives are lost every year, also known as Disability Adjusted Life Years (DALYs) or the sum of years of potential life lost due to ill-health, disability or early death. According a recent research given by an Indian Doctor from the Harvard Public School about 43 million people are injured worldwide each year due to unsafe medical care. It has been identified that 234 million surgeries are conducted each year out of which the death rate is nearly 10% for major surgeries in developing countries.” At IIHMR Campus, nearly 100 students and 25 faculties and other staff members organised a human chain in a shape of Red Cross to create awareness amongst all the medical fraternities and hospitals to bring in the best possible healthcare facilities and safety models to reduce the number of injuries caused to the patients every year. Additionally, few students also shared their research on Patient Safety under various themes – Medication Safety, Safety Goals and Patient for Patient Safety. It is found that about two-third of injuries and harm to the patients occurs in low-and-middle income countries especially in India. The number of DALYs lost has been more than twice as high in low-and-middle income countries that is about 15.5 million as it was in the high income countries which comprises of 7.2 million. Press Release : R K Laxman felicitated with Lifetime Achievement Award by D S K International Campus

December 2014: India’s most famous cartoonist and humorist, R K Laxman was today felicitated with Lifetime Achievement Award by D S K International Campus. This award was handed over to Mr Laxman by Mr D S Kulkarni, Founder, Chairman and Managing Director, DSK Group and Mrs Hemanti Kulkarni at a ceremony that was held at DSK International Campus. Present on the occasion was Tanvi Kulkarni, faculty members, students and eminent dignitaries from different walks of life. A campus coffee table book was also released at the hands of Mr Laxman.

The award was specially designed by students of DSK International Campus’s Design School Rubika ISD on the occasion of Principal Meet 2014 celebration at the campus. It represents the “common man”. R K Laxman has dedicated more than 50 years of creative work for the benefit of common man of India. Laxman, whose creation of The Common Man is arguably the most recognized Indian fictional character.

Press Release Vedanta Foundation launches Advance Computer Coaching Centre in Thane

Mumbai, 20^th November 2014:Vedanta Foundation today launched its first advance computer coaching centre atVedanta College of Management and Information Technology, Thane.The foundation has collaborated with Aptech Ltd to offer underprivileged and aspirant youth the advanced computer programming and networking.

Speaking on the initiative, Dr Lona Nayak, CEO, Vedanta Foundation said, “We, at the Vedanta Foundation are extremely delighted to launch this coaching center. The intention is provide market oriented courses to students for better employment opportunities”.

The foundation will starttrainings in Mumbai for over 25 students from this month and in due course the range of activities and the coverage of its modules will be extended progressively. Jaipur, 01 December, 2014: One of the globally recognized and leading healthcare research organizations’ of the country, IIHMR University, is inviting applications for a two year full time course- MBA in Rural Management. The course has a total intake of 60 students.  

 

MBA in Rural Management is a flagship course of IIHMR University. The course is designed to prepare professionals for a challenging career in rural management in public and private sectors, NGOs, national and multinational organizations. The focus of this program is on self learning through participatory approach. The program will enable students to understand concepts and techniques of modern management and their application in Rural Management develop skills in planning, building, diagnosing and solving management problems along with consultancy skills in Rural Management. The program offers multiple specializations covering modules such as Health Economics, Human Resource, Finance and Insurance.

 

Students with a Bachelor’s degree and minimum 50% marks from recognized university, valid CAT/MAT/CMAT/ATMA/XAT scores, and students awaiting final year results / candidates appearing final year examination of Bachelor’s degree can apply for this programme. Candidates with work experience are also encouraged to apply. The candidates willing to apply can download the form from www.iihmr.org or can also apply online. The completed form needs to be sent to the University’s address by latest 31st June, 2015, followed by  Group discussion and interview between 9th to 10th April, 2015, 11th to 12th June, 2015 and 9th to 10th July, 2015.

 

The final selection of the candidate will be based on his/her performance in the qualifying examination with proportional score in (Medicine/ AYUSH/ Nursing/ Management/ Science/ Commerce/ Social Sciences and Humanities/ Social Work/ Rural Development/ Agriculture), group discussion and interview.
