Press Release : R K Laxman felicitated with Lifetime Achievement Award by D S K International Campus

December 2014: India’s most famous cartoonist and humorist, R K Laxman was today felicitated with Lifetime Achievement Award by D S K International Campus. This award was handed over to Mr Laxman by Mr D S Kulkarni, Founder, Chairman and Managing Director, DSK Group and Mrs Hemanti Kulkarni at a ceremony that was held at DSK International Campus. Present on the occasion was Tanvi Kulkarni, faculty members, students and eminent dignitaries from different walks of life. A campus coffee table book was also released at the hands of Mr Laxman.

The award was specially designed by students of DSK International Campus’s Design School Rubika ISD on the occasion of Principal Meet 2014 celebration at the campus. It represents the “common man”. R K Laxman has dedicated more than 50 years of creative work for the benefit of common man of India. Laxman, whose creation of The Common Man is arguably the most recognized Indian fictional character.

Speaking on the occasion Mr D S Kulkarni said, “The entire DSK Group is privileged and honored to have India’s most eminent cartoonist and humorist at our campus today. Over more than half a century, Mr Laxman’s common man symbolized the mute millions of India as a silent spectator of marching time and has been the voice of India. I am proud of my students from our design school who have designed the award”.

Addressing the gathering, Mrs Usha Laxman said, “It is a great honour and privilege for my father to receive the lifetime achievement award from an institution like DSK International Campus, which stands for nurturing creativity. There is a lot of synergy that can be drawn from the creativity of Mr. R K Laxman and that of the students of this institute. Just as Mr. Laxman received great encouragement and support while growing up to hone his skills as cartoonist, DSK International Campus too provides the same budding environment to its students.”
