Arena Animation reunites with Smita Patil Street Theatre to spread awareness on World Anti Drugs Day

Arena Animation and Smita Patil Street Theater are being featured in the Limca Book of Records, 2015, for their initiative.

Mumbai, June 24th, 2014: Arena Animation, a leading animation institution in India has joined hands with Smita Patil Street Theatre on the occasion of World Anti Drugs Day, recognizing the persistent issue of drug addiction and its consequences, especially amongst the student community. A renowned group from the Smita Patil Street Theatre, which has been consistently listed in the Limca Book of Records, for spreading awareness through street plays, is performing across twenty colleges of the city from June 23rd-June 30th. Their street play, Anth, based on drugs, alcohol, and gutkha awareness has completed 6250 shows.

Since 1989, the group has performed plays all over the country. In 2012, they have performed in Delhi, Kolkata, Bangalore, Lucknow, Chandigarh, Amritsar and Guwahati with the support of Arena Animation. This year, they have chosen Mumbai for their campaign. The colleges that the group will perform in include leading Mumbai based institutes like KC, Jai Hind, Wilson, Rizvi, Bhavans, Chetna, Sathe, Mithibai, Ismail Yusuf, Tolani, N.L., KJ Somaiya, Jhunjhunwala, Vikas College, SK Rai, Tilak College, CK Thakur, Modern, Oriental, National College, Nanavati college, Aggrawal college, Tendarkar College. These shows will also be listed in The Limca Book of Records, 2015. Arena Animation has been in constant association with Smita Patil Street Theatre for various social awareness activities.  They are planning to perform shows across 300-400 colleges of the country to spread awareness on various social issues on World Youth Day in August, 2014.

Amitabh Bachchan advocated Anti-drug day by saying, 
                                                                      “THERE IS GREATNESS IN DOING SOMETHING YOU HATE FOR THE SAKE OF SOMEONE YOU LOVE, HATE DRUGS, LOVE YOURSELF.”

The B.Tech Applied Petroleum Engineering program trains students in Petroleum Engineering and focuses primarily on exploration and production of Oil & Gas. India’s first Private University to foster academic partnership with NSE
Selected students will receive an ASU Degree along with NSE Certification
 
Mumbai; 12 June 2014: Keeping in mind the dearth of qualified financial professionals in the country, Apeejay Stya University (ASU) signed a MoU with the National Stock Exchange (NSE), the leading stock exchange in India. With this collaboration, ASU is running the five-year Integrated MBA in Financial Market programme, which offers an exit option after three years to procure a general BBA (Financial Market) degree.
 
The programme has been specially designed to blend academic and employable skills of individuals. Students pursuing this programme would receive a degree from ASU along with 10 and 22 industry-validated NSE certificates after completing their BBA and MBA programmes, respectively.
 
Speaking on the occasion, Mrs Sushma Berlia, Chancellor & Co-Founder – Apeejay Stya University and President – Apeejay Education Society opined, “People worldwide struggle to maintain a balance between ‘education’ and ‘employability’. With ASU’s liberal arts philosophy, we ensure every student graduates with the desired employable skills.” Mrs Berlia also emphasised the need for financial and legal literacy in India, which must be implemented from the school level onwards.
 
Ms Rana Usman, Senior Assistant Vice President – National Stock Exchange said, “The future of the financial markets is very bright in India. As India’s leading stock exchange, NSE has been conducting various programmes for financial market jobs aspirants. It is the strength we saw in Apeejay Stya University that led us to collaborate with them for such programmes. ASU is the first private university with which we have an academic collaboration.”
 
According to Dr H L Verma, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Academic Administration) of ASU, the programme will help students pursue an ASU degree along with NSE certification, transforming them into competent professionals in the field. NSE will provide constant support for effective implementation of these programmes.
 
ASU shall soon launch more programmes in collaboration with NSE. Apeejay Education Society also plans to launch some certificate and financial literacy programmes for its various schools.

Press release: Lavasa Corporation and UK India Business Council (UKIBC) join hands to offer skill enhancement training with International Certificate Programmes, at Lavasa City

 
11 June 2014, Lavasa: Lavasa Corporation Limited (LCL) and UK India Business Council (UKIBC), a UK trade organisation, have tied up to offer innovative skill enhancement training programmes, with International Certification, on workforce development. UKIBC will be aiding in the development of key programmes, in association with a consortia of UK skills providers to create and deliver the pilot projects.  The consortium includes Association of Colleges - UK in India ((AoC India) and Manipal City and Guilds (MC&G).
 
The pilot, first of its kind was kicked-off last week and delivered Certificate Programmes and trainings for construction workers and security staff. Over 90 learners received training as part of the initial project. Each participant will receive between 40 and 120 hours of intensive training in next 3 months.

How the Consortia will operate:
 
Acting as the Project Facilitator, UKIBC India will involve facilitating the creation of a consortia of UK skills providers with different operational skills, introducing the consortia to LCL, providing a secretariat function for the consortia throughout the planning and operation of the pilot, and assisting the consortia to evaluate the success of the pilot against pre-agreed parameters.
 
Lavasa will provide the infrastructure and equipment for the skills centres, marketing the pilot programmes locally, mobilize learners, and ensure all students in the pilot programmes are sponsored by various contractors/ vendors.
 
UKIBC India has appointed the Association of Colleges in India (AoC in India) as the Project Manager to develop the project on behalf of the UK technical and vocational education sector with the LCL. The other key stakeholder in the consortia will be Manipal City and Guilds Pvt Ltd (MC&G).
 
AoC India will act as the Project Manager and will be led by its member college Burton and South Derbyshire (BSDC) assisted by Highbury College. Highbury College has been instrumental in supporting BSDC with writing of the course content for the construction curriculum.  BSDC are delivering Train the Trainer (TTT) and Training of Master Trainers.
 
Manipal City and Guilds (MC&G) will provide assessment & certification, design and develop assessment tools, delivery of assessments and award of certificate to the successfully passed learner. They will also be responsible for project management of the training partner and manage and source the third party training delivery for the following courses (masonary and bar bending for construction and behavioural skills development programme for security personnel).

UK India Business Centres: The UK India Business Centre, Bangalore is the UKIBC’s second Centre in India, after Gurgaon. Positioned in the leafy, self-contained Prestige Blue Chip office campus the Bangalore Centre is located amongst major corporates such as Vodafone, Oracle and TATA’s Voltas Ltd. When complete, the Centre will comprise 12,500 sq. ft. of office, training, event and meeting space, all located on one floor. The Centres are designed to transform the quantity and quality of support available to British businesses, especially SMEs, seeking to enter or expand in India.
