Suryadatta Education Foundation celebrates World Environment Day at Bavdhan, Pune
 
World Environment Day is celebrated every year on 5th of June  to raise global awareness. The official slogan for this year is ‘Raise your voice , not the sea level’.
On this occasion, the staff members of Suryadatta Group of Institutes took initiative to celebrate World Environment day by innovative ideas like ‘No Vehicle Day’ using public transport to come to the Institute, Watering & Nurturing Plants within the campus, making slogans etc.

The event started by worshipping the God of Nature i.e. Mother Earth in a traditional manner and plantation of trees within the campus. The faculties exhibited the slogans & posters prepared by them and the best slogan received a cash prize. The winner Ms. Manjiri Kulkarni says “ Only when the last tree has died, the last river has been poisoned and the last fish has been caught we will realize that WE CANNOT EAT MONEY”
Prof Aneeta Benninger Executive Director, Centre for Development Studies & Activities was the guest of honour and was conferred the Suryadatta Excellence Award for her valuable contribution in the field of Environment protection.
She spoke about the three levels of environment 1) Surrounding level 2) City level 3) Global level and how we can work on all the three levels to preserve the environment. Suryadatta Group of Institutes  also distributed pamphlets  on the importance of environment that gives the message as to how we can contribute to a greener earth. Small things like avoiding excess use of water, installation of solar systems, segregation of dry and wet garbage, switching off ignition at traffic signals, switching off electrical appliances like lights, fans and computers when not in use, planting trees on important events like birthdays and anniversaries, and carry bags with you to avoid asking for carry-bags. More than 100 staff members were present for the event all dressed in green coloured clothes . On this occasion Dr. Sanjay Chordiya, Chairperson, Suryadatta Group of Institute said “We as a society need to focus on the surrounding issues and it  is the  need of the hour to provide solutions for environmental issues in order to save the environment.”Students Vivek Dubey, Prashant Sagar, Sanjana Kurpe and Prachi Paliwal helped in co-ordination of the event.
