development. UKIBC will be aiding in the development of key programmes,
in association with a consortia of UK skills providers to create and
deliver the pilot projects. The consortium includes Association of
Colleges - UK in India ((AoC India) and Manipal City and Guilds (MC&G).
The
pilot, first of its kind was kicked-off last week and delivered
Certificate Programmes and trainings for construction workers and
security staff. Over 90 learners received training as part of the
initial project. Each participant will receive between 40 and 120 hours

live and work in Lavasa City and the need to embed sustainable training
programmes as part of the project has been key from the outset. Through
this association, we hope to bring not only the renowned British
education expertise, but best standards and content in developing skills
and employability in the City.”
Speaking
about the project Richard Heald, CEO, UKIBC said “I am delighted that
UKIBC and Lavasa Corporation are jointly launching a pilot programme to
skill young people in the Unarmed Security and Construction sectors in
Lavasa.”
He

crucially will be of International equivalence, to the local youth on
successful completion of training. The certificates will confer national
recognition. I am confident that the pilot will provide a base for the
future roll-out of collaborative skills development projects across
multiple sectors in Lavasa and beyond.”
Also
commenting on the project, Dickie McCallum, Managing Director, UKIBC
India said, “Lavasa is an incredibly exciting and ambitious project, and
I’m delighted that the UKIBC has been able to help bring together some
fantastic examples of the UK’s excellent skills and education expertise
to help develop a sustainable training programme for the city.”
“The
significant collaboration between partners from India and the UK makes
this project innovative and exciting. We are blending best practice in
Indian occupational standards developed by the relevant Sector Skills
Councils with teaching aids and teacher training developed and delivered
by great UK College partners, under the guidance of the Association of
Colleges in India. At Manipal City & Guilds we are delighted that
the teaching qualification is from City & Guilds, and that our
