Apeejay Stya University Signs MoU with National Stock Exchange
India’s first Private University to foster academic partnership with NSE
Selected students will receive an ASU Degree along with NSE Certification
Mumbai; 12 June 2014: Keeping in mind the dearth of qualified financial professionals in the country, Apeejay Stya University (ASU) signed a MoU with the National Stock Exchange (NSE),
the leading stock exchange in India. With this collaboration, ASU is
running the five-year Integrated MBA in Financial Market programme,
which offers an exit option after three years to procure a general BBA
(Financial Market) degree.
The programme has been specially
designed to blend academic and employable skills of individuals.
Students pursuing this programme would receive a degree from ASU along
with 10 and 22 industry-validated NSE certificates after completing
their BBA and MBA programmes, respectively.
Speaking on the occasion, Mrs Sushma Berlia, Chancellor & Co-Founder – Apeejay Stya University and President – Apeejay Education Society opined,
“People worldwide struggle to maintain a balance between ‘education’
and ‘employability’. With ASU’s liberal arts philosophy, we ensure every
student graduates with the desired employable skills.” Mrs Berlia also
emphasised the need for financial and legal literacy in India, which
must be implemented from the school level onwards.
Ms Rana Usman, Senior Assistant Vice President – National Stock Exchange
said, “The future of the financial markets is very bright in India. As
India’s leading stock exchange, NSE has been conducting various
programmes for financial market jobs aspirants. It is the strength we
saw in Apeejay Stya University that led us to collaborate with them for
such programmes. ASU is the first private university with which we have
an academic collaboration.”
According
to Dr H L Verma, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Academic Administration) of ASU,
the programme will help students pursue an ASU degree along with NSE
certification, transforming them into competent professionals in the
field. NSE will provide constant support for effective implementation of
these programmes.
ASU
shall soon launch more programmes in collaboration with NSE. Apeejay
Education Society also plans to launch some certificate and financial
literacy programmes for its various schools.
