Mumbai, May 29, 2014: India CSR Institute in association with CSR advisors and CSR and Finance Institute (CSRFI) organized a 2-day CSR workshop on ‘Corporate Social Responsibility, Sustainability and Entrepreneurship in India’.

India & offer the best advisory & services in the CSR space”.
At
the workshop, Dr. Hopkins explained the basics and primary areas of
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) while underlining the importance
of CSR strategy and social entrepreneurship. Noshir H. Dadrawala, CEO
of Centre for Advancement of Philanthropy elaborated on the new
CSR Rules under Companies Act, 2013 in India. While elaborating on the
intricacies of this Act, he explained how corporate companies should
imbibe the CSR compliances. At the workshop, the Indian Documentary
Foundation highlighted the potential of CSR for building brand
leadership and organizational value. Pagal Pundits also conducted a
session on the importance of monitoring mechanisms for tracking and
analyzing viewer’s traffic on corporate, social or NGO websites.
Dr. Michael Hopkins, CEO of CSR and Financial Institute (CSRFI)
said “According to the research by MHCi, India is ranked 73rd in the
world for National Social Responsibility (NSRI). CSR is promising. It is
a strategic tool for business. It will help increase private
consumption, boost investments. It will increase employment in the
country. CSR is extremely critical for big brands since it directly
impacts reputation and image. It is important for corporate entities to
note that stakeholders are the core of CSR. Globally, Climate Change is
a big issue and therefore, it has become important for corporate
companies to invest less than 1% of their GDP for environmental CSR.”
Dr.
Hopkins, a PhD in Economics also described the benchmarking parameters
for rating companies for their CSR policies. Committed towards global
development, Dr. Hopkins has worked for the United Nations development
report. At the workshop, he elaborated on the global scenario of CSR and
how it has immensely contributed towards sustainable development.
According
to Dr. Hopkins, world over, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is
being known and communicated through various related terms such as
Corporate Citizenship, ethical organization, Shared value, corporate
responsibility, corporate sustainability, good corporate governance,
inclusive organization, civil organization.
The
workshop was well received by delegates, professionals, CSR executives,
social workers, government and civil servants. It helped improve their
CSR knowledge, develop their social entrepreneurship and sustainable
development skills.
