- All girls team from Kalyan visits Chennai for ‘Jacqueline Builds’
- A campaign by Habitat for Humanity India to build houses for Tamil Nadu Flood victims
An all
girls team from Sacred
Heart School ,
Kalyan, were delighted to meet Jacqueline Fernandez on-ground in Chennai while
building homes for flood affected victims in Chennai. As a part of the
campaign, ‘Jacqueline Builds’, the school students manually built
homes for the flood affected families in the ‘Padappai’ area near
Chennai. Jacqueline Fernandez appreciated the dedication and efforts taken by
the girl gang from the city.
The
students were delighted to interact with the beneficiaries. It was an amazing
experience for them to be involved in an activity giving better lives to
people.
“It
was a beautiful experience to be actually involved in building homes for the
needy. We have been involved in a lot of Build activities with Habitat for
Humanity India. Many times, we don’t realize the importance of
having a roof over our head and take it for granted. Being a part of Habitat
for Humanity, visiting such places and meeting these people have helped us in
understanding the reality and being thankful for what we have.” said,
Muskan Lund who was a part of the Build.
“Meeting
Jacqueline Fernandez and being appreciated from her, was truly amazing. We were
all super excited when she came to meet us and encouraged us to continue doing
good work.” She added further.
Habitat
for Humanity India began its relief operation in Tamil Nadu ever since the
calamity hit in the month of November 2015. In Phase 1, Habitat for Humanity
India distributed food and water to 12,476 individuals. In Phase 2, Habitat
distributed Humanitarian Aid Kits to 7000 families. The relief work is
currently in its third phase and Habitat for Humanity India aims to build
10,000 disaster resilient homes for the affected families.
